From Poindexter Fortran to All on Thursday, August 11, 2016 06:56:32

realitycheckBBS got its start 25 years ago this summer, running on a 286 with 2 30 MB drives and a 2400 baud modem I'd scavenged from a dumpster at work. I started out with Opus software but soon switched over to Telegard. Once I got the BBS running, I started setting up FrontDoor and became the San Francisco node for nirvanaNET(tm), a local othernet focused on freedom of information and freedom of expression.

My best guess is that the BBS has seen approximately 90,000 calls since its inception.

And, 25 years later I'm still starting my morning out with a cup of coffee and reading my messages from last night's mail run. Marriages, divorces, marriages, jobs, death change the nature of things, but I'm still here.
